The Akimasa (Autumnal Elegance) Exhibition is the largest small bonsai exhibition in the Kanto (metropolitan Tokyo) region, sponsored by the Kanto Branch of the All Japan Shohin Bonsai Association (a public corporation). Approximately 100 bonsai are exhibited by enthusiasts belonging to the Association, and there are about 50 famous shohin bonsai gardens from all over the country. During the exhibition, bonsai fans gather from Japan and overseas at the Ueno Green Club. Admission is ¥700 (currently about 4.58 USD or 4.26 Euro). There is also a sales area.
In a given year you can often see the same, and the best, displays at Kyoto's early January Gafu-ten (shohin only), Tokyo's February Kokufu-ten (all sizes bonsai), Osaka's late March Shunga-ten (shohin-only), and Tokyo's early November Shuga-ten (shohin only), and compare the displays with their appearance in different seasons.
